Becoming Resilient and Ready
Share
Resilience is often described as the ability to "bounce back" after something difficult.
That's a useful starting point, but it doesn't tell the whole story. Real resilience actually involves four stages: Respond. Recover. Adapt. Grow.
The goal is not simply to "bounce back" and return to who you were before the challenge – but rather to replenish what the challenge used, learn from the experience, and become better prepared for what comes next.
Recovery restores you. Adaptation upgrades you – and this is the idea behind the "Adaptive Capacity" that I've been talking about for several years.
